What is the role of religion on a secular discussion board?

A secular discussion of religion is about curiosity, not persuasion. It is about explanation rather than expression of faith.

The phrases 'academic curiosity' and 'personal salvation' come to mind to explain the difference. If it is the kind of conversation you would have in a World Religions 101 class, then that falls within our safe area. Expressions of your faith or conversations you would have with your pastor or priest fall outside of our definition.

Some people have already been surprised to note that there is a difference between a secular board and an inclusive board. 

If you are a person of faith and you visit this board, you may need a slightly thicker skin than you do at other message boards. This is a place for secular people to go to be themselves. A place to talk about sex, drugs & rock 'n roll. Oh, and homeschooling. For secular homeschoolers, who are in the minority in the vast majority of internet communities, being ourselves will include the reality that we do have unpleasant encounters with Christians and we may have a distaste for conservative/evangelical culture. We're in the minority, we need a place, and this is it. 

Is this a grey area? You bet your fabulous booty it is! Are the moderators going to be inconsistent and fallible? Natch. We're human after all, just like you. Only you can know if you can live with our particular flavour of inconsistency and fallibility.
